What the hell is this?

I Can't Stand [Meeting] You is a collection of all the ridiculous things I've written to and about drummer and composer Stewart Copeland.

I actually did meet him for about five crazy seconds in 2007, again for a few exciting moments in August 2009, and my most recent (and most thrilling!) encounter took place in October 2009, where I proved myself capable of being, yet again, a total dork in the man's presence.

I can't believe what I get up to. And neither should you.

Dear Stewart,

I just realized that last week when I wrote about being glad I hadn't been contacted by your representatives and harassed/berated for my idiotic low-ball offer of $200 for your presence anywhere in my vicinity, that if Miles had contacted me, it wouldn't have necessarily been the worst thing that could happen.

I don't think I could parry, verbally, with Miles; I'm sure I'd be just as tongue-tied and dumbfounded as I was on the three occasions when I had the opportunity to speak to you but still, getting cussed out (or whatever) by Miles Copeland would have been pretty damn cool.

I'm just saying.

Love you,
Irene

It's probably like getting made. =)

I like how I left it open by saying "cussed out or whatever," leaving Miles plenty of opportunity to invite me to the Copeland family Thanksgiving dinner.

Sometimes I'm smart.

Miles scares me.
Everything we hold dear in modern society was crafted lovingly by a Copeland so let's give thanks and be glad we don't attend their holiday dinner.
Rife with oneupmanship that one must be.
I do better with less accomplished families.

WHAT? Really? I would happily be the slacker/loser at that Thanksgiving table!

Miles, I'll bring my homemade cranberries (thanks, Ina Garten! Great recipe)!
